You have several choices with whom you may register for your domain name.
For your convenience, we've supplied links to two registration companies that
we are affiliated with located below.
Register.com
networksolutions.com

Will Tekcomp.com help register my domain name?

for you and invoice you later.

What is the process for updating a Network Solutions registered domain?
Usually if a domain is registered and submitted before 5pm then it is possible to
have your site working the very next morning. If you’re transfering a domain from
another provider and it's registered with NetworkSolutions, you will be receiving an email
to authorize the switch. The sooner you return this email, the sooner you’ll be up
and running. If your domain is registered with another Registrar, you'll need to go to their
site to update the DNS information to:
ns1.readyhosting.com - 63.119.175.103
ns2.readyhosting.com - 63.119.175.104
Transferring a domain generally takes about 2-3 days.

What if I already have a domain with another provider?
You can transfer your domain to servers.
Since there are multiple providers for obtaining domains, we will contact you with
the specifics on getting your domain updated.

Yes. If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with your Tekcomp.com membership,
you can send a notice of cancellation via email to the
cancel@tekocomp.com address.

I am unable to send email via your SMTP servers.
There is a possiblity that your dialup provider is blocking port 25.
Providers like Mindspring block this to prevent outside users from relaying bulk email off their servers.
You should contact your provider to see if port 25 is blocked.
If so, you will need to change your SMTP server to one on their network.

How do I setup Outlook/Outlook Express to send/receive email?
In Outlook/Outlook Express, Click on Tools/Accounts. Click on the Add button.
Follow the wizard to setup your account.
The mailservers will be mail.(yourdomain).com for both SMTP and POP3.
Your username is your complete email address.

Developers Q&A:
Do you support Real Audio/Video?
We do not have a Real Audio/Video Server. You can use an http stream.
This is configured by linking to your .ra files directly as you would another html page.

Looking for information on Real Media HTTP Streaming.
To stream RealAudio and RealVideo content using HTTP from your Virtual Server,
do the following. Copy your encoded RealAudio and RealVideo files
(files with the .rm and .ra extensions) to your Virtual Server using FTP. Be sure to
FTP these files in Binary mode. Use a text editor to create a metafile containing a
RealAudio or RealVideo URL. For example, the contents of your metafile should be
in the following form:
http://YOUR-DOMAIN.NAME/path/filename.rm
Save the metafile as a text file with the .ram extension. For example:
filename.ram
Then FTP this file to your Virtual Server in ASCII mode (because it is a text file).

Do you offer Telnet access to the servers?
No. We use NT servers and any telnet access would compromise the security of the machine.

I would like to know the SQL server IP to connect to.
You can connect to the IP address of 63.119.175.9

Do you support Microsoft SQL 7.0 or SQL 2000?
Microsoft SQL 2000 is available with each account for a charge of $45 year.
You will receive a 50MB SQL database. If you need additional SQL space you can
purchase 50mb more for an additional $45 year.
You may only have a maximum of 100mb of SQL space for each domain name.

How do I setup new Email accounts? How do I access the Email Administration?
Go to
http://mail.(yourdomain).com:8383 and type “admin@(yourdomain).com” in the UserID box.
Put your password in the password box.
The default password is “admin”.
You should change this IMMEDIATELY.
Once you are logged into Imail as the Administrator, you will see “User Adminstration” on the
dropdown box on the top right-hand corner. Once you select this, you will see a list of current
users, and a button to “Add”. Click the “Add” button, and fill in the blanks. Leave the
mailbox size and max messages blank to allow unlimited box size.
If you enter a number in these, keep in mind that it’s in ‘bytes’, not MegaBytes.
Make sure you check “Allow Web Access” so you can access them through your webbrowser.

What is the path to Perl?
NT does not require the path to Perl. When a .cgi or .pl file is called, it automatically loads the Perl.

Do you support ASP Upload or similar component?
We support a component called Simple ASP Upload. An example of configuring this is at:
More information can be found at the vendors site at:
http://www.asphelp.com/ASPSimpleUpload/Default.Asp

Can I access SQL databases with my member account?
Yes. Tekcomp offers a premium level subscription that includes access to an
SQL Server database hosted on the Readyhosting machines.  Also, if you have your
own database that is publicly reachable via the Internet, you
can simply write your code to access that database without buying the premium subscription.
